Moodle 2023-2024

STATE-CHOICE: 2023-2024 Moodle Information and Instructions

As in previous years, The South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) Office of Transportation is making a series of courses available on its Moodle platform to help drivers meet annual in-service requirements. A district may also assign any of these courses for the purpose of driver remediation or other local requirements.

To receive credit for each “state-choice” course, drivers will need to complete the instruction provided for each topic. Each course will feature quizzes, either at the end of each segment of instruction or after completing all course components. Some require a passing score, while others will require the driver to provide specific information to verify they completed all parts of the instruction. There is no limit on the number of times they can review the courses or take the quizzes. They must complete all segments before they can access and print the certificate of completion.

Available courses, including Enrollment Keys (and credit hours), are:

  • General Knowledge: General2324 (2 hours) – REQUIRED
  • School Bus Safety: BusSafety2324 (1 hour)
  • Bus Emergencies: Emergencies2324 (1 hour)
  • Field Trip Procedures: FieldTrip2324 (0.5 hours)
  • Wheelchair Securement: Securement2324 (2 hours)

The General Knowledge course is REQUIRED. It will satisfy the 2023-2024 requirement that training, include instruction in school bus evacuation procedures, accident/other emergency procedures, and railroad crossing procedures. The course will contribute two (2) hours toward the minimum ten (10) hours of in-service needed for Type A Certification and fulfills the requirement of two (2) hours of in-service for Type B Certification. All courses can be used toward meeting the 10-hour requirement for annual in-service for Type A certificates.

ALL COASTAL BUS LINE EMPLOYEES must complete
a minimum of 4 annual state-choice in-service training hours.
We will let you know if you are required to complete additional state-choice hours.
Deadline for completion is May 24, 2024
to be eligible for certification in the 2024-2025 school year.
