In this section of the Terms and Conditions Agreement, “We,” “Us” and “Our” mean Coastal Bus Line LLC and any successor or assigns. “You” and “Your” mean each person who submits an Enrollment, Billing and/or Registration Form. “Membership” means your  account with us. “Recurring Payment Plan” means one or more payment program options.

Late Fee (payments received 5 or more days after scheduled payment due date): Up to $35.00
Returned Payment Fee (payments returned and/or rejected for any reason by the issuing Bank): Pass through any Bank fees plus up to $35.00
Early Cancellation Payment (see Membership Cancellation of these Terms and Conditions for details): Up to $35 per month for each month remaining in the academic school year, but not to exceed 10 percent (10%) of total contract value.

Minimum Payment
You must pay at least the Total Minimum Payment by the due date per the terms outlined in the Recurring Payment Plan for the school in which you are enrolling/registering your student(s). Partial payments will not be considered when assessing Late Fees. Late Fees will be assessed based on the full amount of the current recurring payment.

Although we may decide to do so, we are not required to attempt to collect a payment more than once.

Upholding Your Agreement

  • You agree to the terms of this Agreement, and promise to do everything required of you. If you sign or electronically submit an Enrollment, Billing and/or Registration Form to obtain financing from us, you will be legally bound by this Agreement.

Making Payments

  • If you have entered into a Recurring Payment Plan, your credit card will be automatically billed per the terms outlined in the Recurring Payment Plan for your school.
  • You may pay recurring payments IN ADVANCE of the payment due date by sending a check, money order or cashier’s check payable in U.S. dollars, to Coastal Bus Line LLC, 4954 N Hwy 17, Awendaw, SC 29429. Please do not send cash.
  • When submitting payments, be sure to include the student(s) first and last name and school.
  • If your payment does not meet these requirements, it may not be credited for up to five days, or may be rejected. Rejected payments may result in Late Fee assessments and/or immediate suspension of bus privileges.
  • All written communications concerning disputed amounts must be sent to Coastal Bus Line LLC, 4954 N Hwy 17, Awendaw, SC 29429.

Membership Default

You’ll be in default under this Agreement if you:

  • Fail to make any payment when due
  • Violate any provision of this Agreement
  • Pass away
  • Become the subject of bankruptcy or insolvency proceedings
  • Supply us with misleading, false, incomplete or incorrect information
  • Are unable or unwilling to perform the terms or conditions of this Agreement
  • Fail to supply us with any information we deem necessary
  • Issue a payment returned unpaid by your bank for any reason

If we consider your Membership in default, we may suspend your student(s) riding privileges; close your Membership; require you to pay the full amount you owe immediately, and/or take any other action permitted by law. If applicable law requires us to do so, we will tell you in advance and/or give you the opportunity to remedy your default.

Membership Cancellation

  • You may cancel your Membership at any time, for any reason. You are obligated to pay the full contracted amount you owe us through the end of the enrolled academic year unless you provide Coastal Bus Line LLC with either a valid SC driver’s license or a valid school transfer letter for the student rider in question. Upon receipt of said document, you will be subject to the Early Cancellation Fee previously stated and then released of your contractual obligation.
  • We may cancel your Membership at any time, for any reason.
  • We may suspend your Membership and your student(s)’ right to ride with Coastal Bus Line LLC.
  • We may stop offering a Recurring Payment Plan at any time, for any reason.
  • Cancellation or suspension of your Membership does not negate your obligation to pay any amount you owe us.

Membership Changes

  • We may add, change, or delete the terms of your Membership. If required by applicable law, we will give you advance written notice of the change(s) and a right to reject the change(s).
  • You agree to notify us immediately of any changes to your name, mailing address, email address, telephone number(s) and/or credit card on file.

(effective 10/5/2018)

Current route locations and times are available online at your school’s parent portal page. Any other copy of a route – either written or electronic – is not considered an “approved” copy and is not applicable under this policy. If you do not know where to find the most up-to-date route information for your school, please contact Coastal Bus Line at 843-928-3028.

To ensure the safety of student passengers, drivers are not permitted to release elementary grade students without a parent or guardian present. Parents should not wait in cars and/or assume drivers are “familiar” with their vehicles. A face-to-face acknowledgement between parent and driver is mandatory before a student can be released. If a child is not picked up by the time indicated on the end-of-day route schedule, the student will remain on the bus until the next scheduled stop. If a parent is still not present by the last stop’s scheduled time, Coastal Bus Line will attempt to contact the parent and/or emergency contact(s), AND the parent will be charged a late pick up fee based on the following “progressive” scheduled:

Minutes Late Cost per Minute Max Penalty
≤ 5 minutes $1.00 $5.00 ($1 x 5 minutes)
≤ 10 minutes $2.00 $20.00 ($2 x 10 minutes)
10 minutes or more $3.00 $30.00 (No Maximum)

While this progressive schedule may seem excessive to offenders, please keep in mind that tardiness effects staff members – driver, safety supervisor and dispatcher – and subsequent driver assignments, possibly impacting Company revenue and reputation.

To avoid penalty, we recommend that parents identify another parent at the stop for “back-up”. This is an especially useful solution for parents travelling highways or interstates and others who have difficulty getting to the stop on time.

The safety of students and drivers is our number one concern. Our safety and usage policies regarding our buses and pick-up locations follow. Please take a moment to review this information with all student riders.

Students found in default of any of the following School Bus Conduct policies are subject to the Misbehavior Consequences listed below.

While at the Bus Stop

  • Behave well. No rough housing, ball playing, running, etc.
  • Keep noise to a minimum.
  • Wait in cars away from the location’s patrons and visitors.
  • Do not park at bus stops; cars may be towed at owner’s expense.

While on the Bus

  • Respect your driver – always!
  • Do not eat or drink on the bus.
  • Stay in your seat.
  • Keep center aisle clear of backpacks and equipment.
  • Dispose of all trash in garbage pails as you exit the bus.
  • Do not hang out windows.

The Following Behavior is STRICTLY PROHIBITED

  • Violation of safety procedures
  • Destruction of property
  • Inappropriate physical contact (fighting, pushing, tripping, etc.) or threats
  • Excessive mischief
  • Smoking and/or vaping
  • Rude, discourteous and/or bothersome behavior
  • Unacceptable and/or offensive language

One-Way Riders

During registration, one-way riders will be required to indicate whether their travel is “AM” (going to school) or “PM” (leaving the school). Your take-in or take-home commitment is critical to ensuring that buses do not exceed safety capacities. Buses that exceed safety capacities will not disembark, causing delays to all subsequent arrival times, until a safe travel capacity is achieved. One-way student riders will NOT be permitted to deviate from their pre-selected travel time slot. One-way student riders found in default of this policy without prior approval from a Coastal Bus Line LLC employee are subject to the Misbehavior Consequences listed below.

Misbehavior Consequences

  • First Offense: Verbal warning from the bus driver
  • Second Offense: Written warning to primary student contact and school contact
  • Third Offense: Five day suspension of bus privileges without refund or reimbursement
  • Fourth/Final Offense: Expulsion of bus privileges for the remainder of the enrolled Academic School Year without refund or reimbursement
